Transporting generator sets

Standby generators and generator sets differ greatly in enclosure, base frame and tank. We plan transport around the specific unit with its actual dimensions and weights, including separate switchgear and accessory boxes.

Describe whether the generator is open, in an acoustic canopy or in a container. An integrated base-frame tank changes both weight and preparation: clarify with the releasing party what fill level the unit will be handed over with. On similar-looking sets, canopies and retrofitted bases can change the dimensions, so use photos of the specific unit rather than manufacturer images. Separate control panels, exhaust silencers and cable boxes belong on the list as separate items.

Plan your transport

Is the kVA rating enough for an enquiry?

The rating helps identify the model. For planning we also need the dimensions and weight of the specific unit including canopy or container, because two sets with the same rating can be built very differently.

Clarifying operating fluids before machine transport

Hydraulic oil, coolant, grease or fuel in a machine are relevant to transport planning. Clarify with the operator and releasing party in what condition the machine will be handed over, and mention open questions in the enquiry.

Your machine’s weight determines the vehicle, loading equipment and load securing. We therefore need the weight of the unit actually handed over with its equipment, ideally per package and with the source stated.
